A beach is being heaped up in the centre of Wroclaw. Because of the ongoing modernisation of the Wroclaw Water Junction, Kafe Plaża – a place known so well to Wroclaw inhabitants - had to change its location. This year we can immerse our legs in sand on the Juliusz Słowacki Shore, between the Grunwaldzki Bridge and Impart!
80 tons of sand, 90 deckchairs, and a springboard
On Thursday, 80 tons of sand were transported to the spot by 3 tipper trucks; on Friday, sand will be levelled and will form a beach. The new beach will be slightly bigger than the previous one; it will occupy a total area of approx. 800 m2. Apart from lying on deckchairs, there will also be an opportunity to jump. “We will erect a big 10 metres high springboard and prepare some colourful attractions for children near the trees, such as tyre swings similar to those that were hung by local inhabitants earlier,” says Michał Kowalski, the owner of Kafe Plaża. “On the spot, a circular building has already been constructed, in which drinks will be served. Apart from that, a barbecue will be open every day, and we plan to organise concerts on weekends,” he adds.
You can rest on the beach from this weekend!
The first sunrays from the perspective of the beach can be caught already from this weekend. The official opening of Kafe Plaża combined with an exhibition of photographs, concerts and other attractions is scheduled for the 31st of May.
We will test the new location this year. If it becomes popular, we will open two beaches at the same time next year, when the modernisation of the Water Junction is completed and we can return with sand to the area of the Zwierzyniecki Bridge," adds Kowalski.
